Episode 20: 5 steps to Stop self sabotage! feeling worthy of the good stuff in life.

 
 

In this episode of the Powered by Joy podcast, I share a personal story (vulnerability time!) about overcoming self-sabotage and feeling worthy of joy, pleasure, abundance, and good things in life. We discuss the challenge of self-sabotage when we feel unworthy of good things, and how that can rob us of joy and deeper connections with others. I compare two different vacations to Moab, highlighting how my mindset shift led to vastly different experiences despite similar circumstances. I share how I let stress and negative thoughts on the first trip dampen the level of joy and fun on our vacation, but by working on self-awareness and changing my mindset, this time transformed my experience into one filled with gratitude, presence, and joy.

We dive into 5 practical steps to recognize, trust, and change negative thoughts and behaviors, fostering self-compassion and joy. Emphasizing the importance of setting intentions, being present, and creating space for gratitude, I encourage you to enhance your joyful experiences. Here are five practical steps on stopping self-sabotage:

  • Acknowledge your behavior, thoughts, and emotions. (gotta notice them first!)

  • Trust that your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are NOT who you are and that means they can change.

  • Stop judging yourself for your thoughts and behaviors; get curious about them instead.

  • Explore the root causes of your responses without judgment, offering compassion and forgiveness to yourself.

  • Practice enjoying small joyful moments regularly to build up your capacity for larger amounts of joyful experiences.

By practicing these steps, you can start to expand your capacity for joy and have more fulfilling experiences more often!
